Nicola Leahey
Adelaide born, 21 year old Nicola Leahey is a graduate of the New Zealand School of Dance. In her final year, Nicola performed in works such as Shona McCullagh's Love, X 300 by Francis Rings and Paul Taylor's Airs under the direction of Richard Chen See of the Paul Taylor Dance Company. Prior to this Nicola trained in classical ballet and contemporary dance at Terry Simpson Studios, attaining the R.A.D. Solo Seal Award in 2006.
In 2008 she performed in Ross McCormack's work Symbiotic and in 2009 was a guest dancer with Dancenorth, performing in Ross McCormack's work Nowhere Fast. Joining Dancenorth full-time in 2010, Nicola toured to Macau, China for the international debut of Nowhere Fast and performed in Raewyn Hill’s the cry and Rob Tannion’s FreeFall.
Nicola was named as 'Dancer to watch' in Dance Australia's 2010 Critics Survey. She is currently performing in Dancenorth's Double Bill season running through 'til mid-May and will also perform as part of Expressions Solo Festival of Dance on the 5th May at the Judith Wrigth Centre, Brisbane.
