‘Donors don’t give to institutions. They invest in ideas and people in whom they believe’.

Throughout 2008 and beyond, we hope to continue to be a valued and contributing member of the Australian arts community and as such, Dancenorth have developed an innovative educational program to ensure the future of contemporary dance in Australia at all levels. We want to provide free school performances which complement our core performance schedules to secondary schools throughout regional and remote northern Queensland whilst providing students with unique access to an arts organisation and live performance.

In addition to this project, we hope to further the professional opportunities for tertiary dance students by providing secondments and masterclasses placements to emerging local and national artists. With the generous support of a donor, we wish to sustain and enhance our current programs to include the broader Townsville secondary school community in addition to accepting more secondments and masterclass students, but this takes time and resources. Excellent feedback was received from teachers and pupils who were fortunate enough to participate in the schools program last year, so we want to do more to foster the future of dance in Australia.

Donations, large and small are greatly appreciated. Our aim is to encourage dance as a viable cultural experience whilst providing potential career pathways for our youth and improving accessibility of the arts industry through active participation in the community.
