roadkill

A couple is stranded in the Australian outback, with a car that won’t start next to a phone box that doesn’t work. They soon find that their greatest danger is not their isolation.

This stunning, unsettling piece of dance theatre is a manic ride down the highway of misconceptions about the heart of Australia.

roadkill performed a two week season at Barbican Centre, London in late 2007 and was nominated seven times in the Dance Australia’s Best of 2007, including “Highlight of the Year”, “Most Outstanding Dancers” and “Best New Work”. The show also received nominations for three Helpmann Awards and one Australian Dance Award.

roadkill is a co-production between Brisbane Powerhouse and Dancenorth and is toured by Performing Lines and choreographed by Splintergroup.

“Of the many breathtaking moments, the zero-gravity sequence in a phone booth and the Biblical hail of stones are the most memorable. Fuelled by a collective creativity and inventive stagecraft, it is dark, primitive and very exciting.” - Daily Express London
