Help Us Keep Dance Alive

For 40 years, Dancenorth Australia has connected hearts, minds and bodies across Gurambilbarra and Thul Garrie Waja (Townsville) and regional Queensland through dance and movement.

Against all odds, the Company has thrived. We’ve built an epicentre for creativity in the North and magnetised artists from across the world to dream and create amidst our rocky, sun-drenched landscape.

But we do not create art for art’s sake.

We create to connect. We create to heal. We create to understand, to enquire, to express, to explore, to be together in moments of shared joy and grief.

We create because it’s the only way to truly feel alive. And don’t we all want to feel more alive?

Help us keep dance alive with a donation to Dancenorth, this AusArt Day, 23 Oct 2025.

Your donations support:

+ The development and touring of groundbreaking contemporary dance work

+ Artistic development and creative exchange for independent dancers, choreographers and artists across Australia and New Zealand

+ Our free annual Regional Workshop Tour for more than 1,500 school students in regional and remote North Queensland

+ No and low-cost dance classes, workshops and experiences for our communities

+ Improved confidence, emotional literacy, self-expression and social connection

+ Stronger, happier, more resilient communities

+ Access to world-leading Arts experiences in Gurambilbarra (Townsville)

About AusArt Day

The future of Australia’s Arts sector relies on a significant cultural shift to increase Arts philanthropy. Arts Giving is an investment in Australia’s future – not only in our shared cultural and creative identities, but in social impact across many areas including health and wellbeing, education and child development social cohesion, and community resilience.

Led by Creative Australia, AusArt Day is a new initiative in 2025, that will support artists and Arts organisations to increase awareness and action among new and existing donors across the country.

The inaugural AusArt Day will take place on Thursday, 23 October 2025. For more information about AusArt Day, visit Creative Australia’s website.
