International Day of People with Disability
An event celebrating the contributions and achievements of people with disability.
Experiences
Celebrate International Day of People with Disability 2023 with Dancenorth Australia and Townsville Community Learning Centre.
International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) is a United Nations sanctioned day that celebrates the contributions and achievements of people with disability and promotes awareness, understanding and acceptance in our community.
Each year, Dancenorth collaborates with a group of Townsville Community Learning Centre students to create an original dance performance. This year, the group has been inspired by their favourite places. Space and place offer connection, safety, and a sense of belonging, as well as peacefulness, joy, excitement and imagination. Be transported to our favourite places by our new dance performance, created in collaboration with our enthusiastic, charming and feisty cast of young dancers from Townsville Community Learning Centre.

Performance History

An audience joined us on Friday, 3 December 2021 to celebrate the diversity within our community and share in the joy of dance as a foundation to creating connections which enrich and enhance our lives.
