The Three Dancers

"The deliberate visual minimalism allows full focus on movement and music - and these elements amply bring colour, albeit darkened, like blood slowly dying... exudes unrelenting energy, capitalising wonderfully on the strengths of the young ensemble."
Realtime
Internationally celebrated choreographer, Lee Serle returns from New York to create a new contemporary dance work, The Three Dancers. Composed by world-renowned composer, Elena Kats-Chernin, and inspired by Picasso’s painting of the same name, The Three Dancers was originally presented in 2015 as a chamber music concert. Dancenorth’s re-imagining of the score is a unique collision of sound, light and movement. The score was co-commissioned by Wimbledon International Music Festival, Dancenorth, Australian Festival of Chamber Music, Sitka Summer Music Festival, El Paso Pro Musica, Northwest Bach Festival and the Rambert Dance Company.
Love, desire and betrayal are the ingredients of the shocking true story which inspired Picasso’s masterpiece, Lee Serle’s rendition reveals the intricacy within one of the 20th century’s greatest artworks.
