For people who “can’t dance”

Dancenorth is delighted to return with Dance For Absolute Beginners, a specially designed class series for people who “can’t dance”.

Over six weeks, participants will learn general dance movements, pathways and co-ordinations, guided by experienced teachers in a friendly, supportive environment. Accompanied by great tunes, classes will be relaxed and informative, encouraging safe and efficient movement, social connections and all-round good vibes.

By the end of the six weeks, participants will feel stronger and more aware of their bodies, as well as feel more relaxed and confident about finding their own natural groove.

The course is designed as an introductory experience for absolute beginners – no experience or natural skill necessary.

In 2025, all of Dancenorth’s Community Experience classes will be free to attend. It’s our gift to the community, as we celebrate our 40th Anniversary.

Accessibility

Dancenorth is located on the corner of Walker and Stanley Streets in Townsville City.

The ground floor of the venue is fully accessible, this includes the Dancenorth Theatre, foyer, bar, main offices and wheelchair accessible toilet. The main entrance is located at Stanley Street and accessible via wheelchair lift.

There is a drop off area outside the Clarion Hotel on Stanley Street, 50m from our main entrance.

Please note, the upstairs Dancenorth Studio is only available via a steep flight of stairs. Occasionally our in-house classes take place in the Dancenorth Studio. Please contact Dancenorth prior to your visit to confirm class location for that week.
