Free Guided Improv Class in anticipation of 'Plagiary'

For those open to exploring improvisational movement
This special edition of our Contemporary Dance Class is a gentle introduction to guided improvisational movement.
How might you move in a spiral?
Like a bird?
Like a piece of fruit toast?
There are no wrong answers, only new ideas waiting to be discovered.
This class will introduce you to the endless possibilities of creative exploration and the joy of self-expression that can be found in not taking yourself too seriously.
This one-off class explores the improvisational techniques used in Dancenorth’s upcoming season of Plagiary by Alisdair Macindoe. It’s designed to give participants a gentle introduction to improvisational techniques, while deepening their understanding of what they’ll see on stage during the performance season.
The class will culminate in an invitation for participants to test their new-found skills by responding to Macindoe’s AI Dance Choreographer.
Suitable for new and experienced dancers, performers and anyone willing to have a go.
We are committed to safe physical, emotional and cultural practices, striving to create an environment where everyone can feel supported to play, develop their skills, discover greater freedom in their bodies, and connect with others.
Classes have limited capacity. Registrations are essential.
