Michelle Heaven

Michelle has worked nationally and internationally with artists/companies such as Chunky Move, Lucy Guerin Inc, BalletLab, Helen Herbertson, Ben Cobham (Bluebottle), Sue Healey, Walter Dunderville (N.Y.), Leigh Warren, Tamara Saulwick, Michael Kantor, Sandra Parker, Nicci Wilks, Susie Dee, Polyglot Theatre, Black Hole Theatre, Chamber Made Opera, Victorian Opera, Weave Movement Theatre, Jodee Mundy, Harrisson Ritchie Jones, and Circus Oz. 

Michelle’s independent work has been presented at Melbourne Festival, Beijing Dance Festival, Dance Massive, The Substation, and Castlemaine State Festival. Michelle is a Helpmann Award nominee, multiple Australian Dance Award nominee, recipient of the Dame Peggy van Praagh Choreographic Award, and several Victorian Green Room Awards. She is honoured to be the 2024 recipient of the Australian Children’s Theatre Fund Joan and Betty Rayner Fellowship for professional development activities and research in the field of theatre for children, and the 2025 recipient of the Dancehouse Compositions Commission. 

In 2025 Michelle will continue working with Lucy Guerin on her new work, and premier her work with Ben Cobham, The Lensical, co-created with Restless Dance Theatre, at DreamBig Festival. She is also delighted to continue developing new work for Dancenorth.
